Function Health is a membership company that runs a large panel of blood tests through a national lab, then a follow-up panel months later, with clinician notes and a personalized plan on a dashboard. It finds things. Acting on them is still your job, and that is the part most people never get to.
What does Function Health membership include?
Function Health membership includes an initial assessment with 160 lab tests, then a follow-up of 60-plus retests three to six months later. According to the same interview, members get personalized written notes, but no treatment regimen based on results.
Sit with that for a moment. You get the data. You do not get a coach. A dashboard full of blood results is a map, and a map does not walk anywhere.

Who is the CEO of Function Health?
Jonathan Swerdlin is the CEO of Function Health. TIME named the company to its TIME100 Companies list and identified Swerdlin as its CEO.
How much does Function Health cost, and how does it compare with Superpower?
Superpower’s own comparison page lists Function Health at $365 per year and Superpower at $199. That is a competitor’s page, so read it that way. Check the current price on each company’s site before you book.
Here is the real problem. Two platforms competing on how many tests they run is a contest about volume. What actually matters is what you do with the results in the months after the draw.
What is the downside of more lab testing?
The downside is that more tests mean more abnormal flags, and some of them lead you nowhere useful. The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force notes that the harms of extra risk testing can include incidental findings that lead to more testing, possible procedures and anxiety.
For some common markers the evidence is thin. On thyroid screening, the Task Force found insufficient evidence to weigh benefits and harms in asymptomatic adults. If you aren’t testing you’re guessing. But a number nobody acts on is just an expensive guess.
Is lab testing alone worth it for longevity?
Testing is worth it only when there is a plan attached. Blood numbers move through the boring things: how you train, how you eat, how you sleep and how you recover. That is not hyperbole. It is the whole job.
I spent years as a strength and conditioning coach for the Toronto Blue Jays, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the University of South Florida. Nobody on those teams got better by staring at a report. They got better because someone was there for the next rep. Boring is good. It compounds.
Where can you act on your results in person?
You act on them with people who can see you train and measure you again. Functionised runs FIT Clinic, FIT Lab and FIT Stretch in Colts Neck, Tinton Falls and Seabrook. We work on longevity, precision nutrition, strength and conditioning, HRV, and menopause and midlife.

Frequently asked questions
Does Function Health replace my primary care doctor?
No. A membership-based lab service is not the same thing as an ongoing relationship with a doctor who examines you and manages your care over the years. Take your results to your own physician, especially any flagged value, so it is read alongside your history, your medications and your symptoms rather than on its own.

What should I bring to a coach after getting lab results?
Bring the full report, not a screenshot of the flags, along with your current medications and how you train and sleep. A good coach or clinician will ask what you are willing to change, and what you have already tried. The plan should name a specific behaviour and a date to measure it again.

Can lab results tell me how strong I am?
No. Blood work shows chemistry, not capability. Strength, muscle mass, balance and recovery are measured in a different way, by testing what your body can actually do. That is why lab results and physical testing work best side by side, with the physical side often the place to start acting.

The Bottom Line
Function Health can show you what is happening in your blood. It cannot get you off the couch, put weight on the bar or fix your breakfast. You own exactly one body, and the report is just the start.
If you want people to work with you on the next step, book with Functionised or call (848) 301-1515. Pull up your results, then ask yourself one thing: what will you do with it?
