Healthy Happy Hour is back with Jim Goetz and Chantea Goetz of Functionised!!!! The dynamic couple discusses biohacking alcohol and microdosing hallucinogens.
Alcohol can be used to enhance life span and quality of life or it can cause a rapid breakdown of it. Jim and Chantea discuss why. Also, hallucinogens have long been thought to be the drug of choice for hippies. It's being used more and more now with high powered CEOs, the US military for treatment of it's own soldiers, athletes, and the home maker. See how some highly illegal drugs is scientifically shown to be not only safe but extremely beneficial in mainstream life if utilized in the proper dosages. www.functionised.com IG: @functionised FB: @functionised
These are the overviews of Healthy Happy Hour. For a far greater and in depth understanding, listen or watch the show in its entirety.
4 of 5 Blue Zones engage in moderate to regular alcohol consumption.
In Sardinia, Italy, the Sardinians regularly consume a wine known as, Cannonou. This particular wine is found to have 2x-3x greater flavanoids than "regular" wine. Wine before or with a meal has been shown to lower your risks of cardiovascular disease as well as lower the rate of cancer. To boost these effects, regular physical activity should be implemented. The Sardinians on average are known to walk 5 miles each day. It's really not a lot if you are moving about all day. If you have a FIT Bit device you will see that if you are extremely active, you should be moving many miles each day (driving does not count!!!!) Long term use of alcohol leads to decreased brain signaling and thus neurodegeneration. This is the full death of your cells and a permeable brain. Alcohol contains ehanol, which increases action of reactive oxygen species (ROS), leading to brain damage. It also increases epxression of the CYPE1 enzyme, which converts ethanol into acetaldehyde leading to excess ROS. Acetaldehyde is a close family member of formaldehyde (embalming fluid). Once the acetaldehyde crosses the blood brain barrier (BBB); brain damage is the result. Alcohol does have serious mitigating effects. Alcohol degrades your neurotransmitters and leads to a histamine intolerance. Alcohols metabolic burden causes the aldehyde to release histamine from mast cells. It also depresses DAO and results in an even greater release of histamine. Symptoms include: red face flush irritable runny nose bloody nose exacerbation of autoimmune symptoms insomnia sweaty extremities increase in heart rate increase incidence of headaches To reduce these effects of alcohol: reduce consumption of histamine releasing foods such as, cheese and aged meat S-Adenosine L- methionine (SAMe) This breaks down histamine as the HNMT gene which breaks down histamine needs SAMe to work. Reduction of Oxidative Stress: PQQ Alcohol leads to oxidative stress. PQQ is more effective than the antioxidants vitamin C and vitamin E. Take PQQ BEFORE drinking and you can combine it with Berberine to regulate your glucose levels better. Sulfites Sulfites lead to irritability, insomnia and headaches. None of which are fun. Sulfites also prevent the absorption of vitamin B1, which is essential for energy and focus due to its use in carbohydrate metabolism. To prevent binding of sulfites to B1 take: Molybdenum Thiamine MICRODOSING Reported positive physical and mental effects. Microdosing is known as subperceptual dose. This means the dose has a positive impact on both mood and behavior but has zero effect on daily function. This "microdose" is understood to be the sub psychadelic threshold. Research has shown it to decrease symptoms of: depression anxiety PTSD addiction ADD/ADHD emotional imbalances Psilocybin aka Magic Mushrooms Best for: nature immersion self discovery journaling Its also been shown to be effective as a treatment for: headaches anxiety depression addiction OCD To avoid issues with neurotransmitter imbalances, avoid alcohol and seratonin based anti depressants if you are utilizing psilocybin. Micro dose (start low) is 0.1g to 0.5g Biohacks: Combine psylocybin with lions mane and niacin----> sensory boost Combine psylocybin with blue lotus extract (aphrodisiac)---> greater release of DMT by your pineal gland resulting in an ecstacy like experience. *Your body naturally releases small amounts of DMT. It increases with the introduction of blue lotus extract. LSD (Lysergic Acid DiEthylAmide) derived from rye fungus was synthesized in 1938 to aid in child birth. LSD merges the left and right brains and may lower blood flow to the control centers of the brain, resulting in a far more creative state than ever achieved without it. LSD increases serotonin, which in turn increases dopamine and you get the "feel good" LSD Positive Therapeutic Uses: jet lag sleep deprived addiction depression anxiety OCD cluster headaches end of life anxiety resistance to change improved reaction time improved concentration and balance decreased pain perception improved mood Microdose: 5 mcg to 20 mcg (start low) Ibogaine Derived from Iboga, which is an evergreen shrub in central Africa. Combines both mental and physical efforts before battle sporting event sex microdose: 300 mg to 500 mg (start low) Ketamine Being used for a treatment of depression. Results are being seen in as little as 24 hours with IV treatment. A typical antidepressant, it floods your neurotransmitters and blocks the reuptake of serotonin. Ketamine on the other hand blocks glutamate and opiate receptors (depression and pain) and does not cause desensitization. Microdose: 0.1mg/kg bw to 0.75mg/kg bw Ketamine has been shown to: increase compassion and sensitivity increase joy in life decrease fear of death Ketamine deactivates the sympathetic nervous system Regarding sex and ketamine: ketamine increases sex drive ketamine decreases inhibition ketamine offers a full body relaxation Do not mix ketamine with depressants such as: alcohol tramadol opiods POST Discussion: Exercise of the week- 100 squat jacks daily as demonstrated by Beauty, Brains Brawn- Chantea Goetz |
